Compatibility issues can often occur with Internet Explorer and Excel due to their frequent updates.
IBM suggest you use a slow update channel for office 365.
32 or 64 bit Excel?
TM1 Client Side software for Excel. (i.e. Perspectives, Xcelerator)
We recommend you use 32bit Excel unless advised otherwise.
There are separate installation files for 32 vs 64 bit Excel.
We have found that if you install the wrong one, simply uninstalling and reinstalling the correct one may not resolve the issue because files remain under the AppData folder.
Windows Updates
Windows updates have caused service outages. We recommend testing all windows updates in a test environment before rolling into production.
Excel Compatibility settings
Using a newer version of Excel can cause TM1 to loose connection to the server.
One thing to try when this occurs is to set the 'Optimise for compatibility' setting in Excel.
In Excel follow these steps:
1. Click 'File'
2. Click 'Options'
3. Check the 'Optimize for compatibility' setting as shown:
Windows compatibility issues
TM1 10.2.2 should have Fix Pack 7 Applied so that it supports Windows 10 and will no longer be supported by IBM after September 2019.
Internet Explorer Compatibility Settings
We recommend the use of Chrome. However is you need to use Internet Explorer then Compatibility mode should be enabled:
1. Launch Internet Explorer
2. Click the 'tools' icon, and then click 'Compatibility View settings
3. Add the Cognos website into the list of websites
For further details on how to do this, see the IBM Reference:
